Frequently Asked Questions

Is it possible to participate in the Saab Military Sales Program if I'm stationed in the USA?
No. In order to use this special program, your duty station must be located outside the USA and its territories. Alternatively, you must be in possession of TDY/TAD orders to a foreign location at the time you place your Saab order.

Is it possible for both DOD civilian employees and civilians contracted to the US military to participate in this program?
Yes. Both groups may participate in the program, providing a person holds a valid US military ID card and is assigned on official orders to a location outside the USA and its territories.

Are prices in the program set or do I have to negotiate in order to obtain the lowest possible price?
This is an element of the program that military customers like the most. The lowest price has already been negotiated on your behalf and prices are set in US dollars (unaffected by daily currency fluctuations.). No agent within the Military Sales Program may arbitrarily alter the prices. The price you see is the price you pay and everyone pays the same.

How can I place an order if I'm deployed to the Middle East/Asia or onboard a ship?
The process is easy. Simply send us an e-mail or a request for information and your inquiry will be assigned to a Saab specialist who will assist you in selecting the model and option which best suits your needs. Once that has been established, you will be guided through the ordering process - all of which can all be conducted over e-mail or fax.

What kind of a warranty comes with the car?
The car comes with a 24-month/unlimited-mileage warranty in Europe and a 48-month/50,000-mile warranty in the USA. Seatbelt and supplementary restraint system coverage is 60 months and body perforation warranty is 72 months. All warranties run concurrently from your delivery acceptance date.

Will the Saab Full Maintenance Program cover my Saab?
This particular program applies only in the USA (36 months/36,000 miles) and does not cover US models being serviced outside the USA. However, this program will be available once your Saab is in the USA (providing it still falls within the mileage/time parameters).

If I take delivery of a Saab in Europe, where could any required servicing and warranty work be carried out?
Although your Saab will have been manufactured to US specifications, any authorized European Saab service centre can perform any scheduled maintenance or carry out any warranty work that may be necessary.

Is the Saab Home Shipment Program free?
Yes, it is! If you take delivery of your Saab in Europe, it can be shipped to the US through the Saab Home Shipment Program. This program provides port-to-port shipping from Europe to several US ports of entry at no cost. Your Saab can be delivered to one of several drop-off locations in Europe and from there it will be transported to the port of embarkation. (Please note that, if selected, inland transport carries a charge). When your Saab arrives at the US port of entry, you or a friend/family member (with a power of attorney) can collect it. The Home Shipment voucher, which is supplied at the time of delivery, is valid for 60 months.

If I'm unable to accept delivery of my new Saab in Europe, is it possible to ship it directly from the factory to my nearest Saab dealership in the USA?
Yes. If you're unable to take delivery in Europe, or simply choose not to, Saab offers a Direct Stateside Shipping Program. This enables your car to be shipped directly from the factory to your nearest Saab dealership within the mainland USA. The preparation of the car would take place at the US dealer location, which is where you would take delivery. (When this method of shipment is selected, US federal import tax applies. Please ask your sales agent for more information.)

What is my state sales tax liability if I purchase through this program?
It is impossible to list definitive criteria, as each state views rates and liabilities differently. As a general rule, you should expect to pay some form of tax upon first registration in the USA. However, as a military person you may qualify for exemption. If the vehicle has already been bought and owned out of state (sometimes for a specified time period), this may also fulfill any exemption criteria.
