Saab PhoeniX concept: The Future is Already Here
Sleek, innovative and exceptionally efficient: the Saab PhoeniX concept car showcases design features and technologies which will shape the next generation of cars from Saab.

Based on an new architecture which will empower the next Saab 9-3 model, the PhoeniX introduces 'aeromotional' design: a visual evocation of the aerodynamic design principles and passion for innovation that inspired the creators of Saab's first car, the iconic Ursaab.

The PhoeniX embraces teardrop, 'liquid metal' forms and a dramatic jet canopy-inspired glasshouse that gives fresh expression to Saab's signature 'wraparound' and translucent ice-block design themes.

The clean, muscular shape enables an exceptionally low drag co-efficient of just 0.25 and also explores the potential for airflow management through the use of distinctive, side-mounted wing elements.

After 64 years we´re celebrating our first birthday.
Saab Automobile was reborn on February 23, 2010 . But there was no time for any first faltering steps as the independent car company first stood on its own feet. We started running immediately.

And now, our first has passed, we look with pride upon all that we have achieved. We launched the new Saab 9-5, secured future engine supplies, continued developing hybrid technology, exhibited Saab´s first electrical car, lowered CO2 emissions to 119g and introduced the Saab 9-4X. The list goes on. But that was then. We prefer to look ahead. That´s what we do in our home-town of Trollhättan, Sweden.

Here we spot opportunities where some don´t see anything at all, and find solutions long after others have given up. Around here we´re realistic too. No one says it´s going to be easy to re-make Saab. But as we celebrate our first birthday, we can say one thing for sure: the future looks bright.

The celebration will be exactly one year to the day after General Motors sold Saab Automobile to Spyker Cars N.V. of the Netherlands. When the deal was signed, new Saab Automobile Chairman Victor Muller promised his jubilant workforce that this day would be commemorated and next week he and Saab President & CEO Jan Åke Jonsson will keep their word.

All-new Saab 9-5 SportCombi to Debut at Geneva

Trollhättan, Sweden: Saab Automobile takes the next step in the biggest new product offensive in its history when the much-awaited 9-5 SportCombi is unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show.

Sleek and fun-to-drive, the SportCombi adds versatility to the widely acclaimed attributes of the 9-5 sedan and will bring a distinctive, alternative choice to the premium, large wagon segment.

It shares the sedan´s bold, Aero X-inspired looks and features an extended, falling roof-line which culminates in a steeply raked rear screen flanked by signature Saab ‘wraparound´ window glazing. The result is an imposing and sporty wagon with a low stance and a dynamic, visual appeal that concedes nothing to the requirements of load-carrying.
