Job Description:
Saab Inc., Business Development is seeking a dynamic, results-oriented individual as the Director, Autonomous and Undersea Domain Business Development, responsible for the profitable growth of its Autonomous and Undersea Vehicles portfolio consisting of Swedish (SAAB) and US indigenous autonomous and tethered undersea and surface vehicles, to include AI/ML, undersea weapons, surface and undersea platforms and other Products and Services. The primary customers for the Autonomous and Undersea Vehicles portfolio are the US Navy (NAVSEA (PMO/NUWC), DARPA, ONR and other industry partners. This person will develop and implement a successful business growth strategy utilizing existing and new products, which support long-term business objectives. Responsibilities will include functional management of the Business Development staff; identification, qualification, and pursuit of significant new business opportunities; and interfacing across disciplines and departments to achieve business objectives. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in developing long-range strategic plans, intimate knowledge of one or more of Saab’s current Autonomous and Undersea domain customer sets, and the ability to manage and coach the Business Development team.
Responsibilities:
Conduct long-term Autonomous and Undersea Domain business development activity to position Saab within future core programs, new technologies, and new business models
Maintain and grow existing customer relationships with the customer community
Win and secure profitable orders in line with the long term business plan
Work with the technical team to identify competency gaps within the organization which are required to achieve long term growth
Gain an in depth understanding of the Saab products within the portfolio and work with Autonomous and Undersea Systems business unit leads to identify opportunities to capture US market share
Provide consistent leadership to the Sales and Marketing staff to ensure effective and efficient capture activities across the business
Skills and Experience:
BS Degree in business or related engineering discipline, MBA preferred.
Minimum 15+ years Program Management/Business capture experience.
10+ years of directly or indirectly leading organizations of 10 or more individuals.
Demonstrated track record leading large scale aerospace and/or defense business capture efforts.
Extensive experience successfully negotiating multi-million dollar agreements with large Aerospace and Defense customers.
The ideal candidate has direct military operational experience.
Required Skills:
Possesses advanced knowledge of the capture/business strategy.
Demonstrated ability to lead strategic initiatives in support of functional and business objectives.
Ability to contribute to business execution standards and best practices (scheduling, cost accounting, EVMS, Risk/Opportunity management).
Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
Willingness to travel 30-50% of time in support of business development efforts.
Capable of obtaining a Secret level clearance.
