Job Description:

Saab is seeking a part-time, on-call Business Development Director to support business development vision, strategies, and tactics for the Autonomous and Undersea Systems Division. The successful candidate will:

  • Develop new market initiatives and manage customers and related partnerships. 

  • Evaluate business opportunities to define and optimize product portfolio and/or research and development efforts.

  • Combine business area objectives, technology trends and market needs into specific initiatives and activities.

  • Analyze market data to identify trends and opportunities and develop strategic direction from market information.

  • Support technology direction as it pertains to core business and provide that direction across teams.

  • Identify strategic development process initiatives and drive the adoption of core technologies and architectures.

  • Significantly influence key business and technical stakeholders and contacts.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, technical or related discipline is required. MBA is a plus.

  • Must have a keen understanding of customer technical requirements and ability to influence technical solutions.

  • 15+ years of Business Development in the defense industry and/or relevant military air operations.

  • Knowledge of DoD acquisition process and government procurement policies and procedures.

  • Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision.

  • Outstanding leadership, communication, strategic planning, Voice of the Customer and relationship management skills.

The ideal candidate has demonstrated the ability to:

  • Regularly establish partnerships with customers and stakeholders.

  • Create competitive approaches and counter solutions to meet market/customer needs.

  • Communicate and present results and content to customers (internal or external) and/or others.

  • Regularly explore and recommend new businesses and models required for success.

  • Effectively utilize marketplace contacts and outside stakeholders to influence the company's market position. 

  • Regularly engage and leverage other internal key stakeholders to meet business needs and objectives.

  • Support proposal teams to winning solutions.

Citizenship Requirements:

Must be a U.S. citizen. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
