Business Improvement Project Lead

The role

As part of our Naval Combat Systems group, the Program Headmark Project Lead will, provide direction and lead and execute approved Business Improvement project initiatives, including:

  • Project scope; definition and management;
  • Project planning; development of milestones and key deliverables, resource demand and budget;
  • Securing and managing resources within the scope of the project activities via the Headmark Outcome Delivery Group (note that other people from within the NCS business will be tasked with working on projects, not only full-time Headmark team members).
  • Information and data gathering and analysis;
  • Definition, analysis and improvement of processes;
  • Project implementation including schedule, budget and risk management; change management;
  • Project monitoring and reporting; status, benefits realisation, replication opportunities and reinforcement monitoring;
  • Stakeholder management;
  • Reporting on status to the Headmark Outcome Delivery Group and the Headmark Steering Group.
  • For smaller improvement opportunities, implement those opportunities directly, or with the assistance of other members of the Headmark team.

Further, the successful candidate will:

  • Comply with legislation and Company policies, processes and instructions, including those relating to non-discrimination, safety and duty of care and the quality management system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office, 9 day fortnight will be considered for this role.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with project management concepts and techniques.
  • Strong data analysis skills.
  • Understanding of how good processes are constructed and the benefits they bring.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Track record of taking organisational change initiatives from idea, to plan, to delivery into the organisation, to measurement of outcomes (desired).
  • Ability to interpret and follow high level feedback and requirements.
  • Ability to work with ambiguous requirements
  • Can interrogate a statement to derive a clear scope or requirement for delivery of work.


As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level or have the ability to gain one.
