The role

Our Maritime group delivers the Saab Combat Management System (CMS) across the Royal Australian Navy’s (RAN) fleet, including the ANZAC class frigates, Arafura class offshore patrol vessels and Supply class replenishment ships. The group is also involved in the development of the Australian interface to the Aegis system for the Hunter class frigates and the Hobart class destroyers.

As the CMS Software Integration Team Lead, you will plan and technically coordinate the team to meet objectives of multiple projects. In consultation with the CMS Software Integration Manager you will discuss and agree the software scope, design and implementation for the CMS.

Further, as the successful candidate, you will:

  • Lead, coordinate and guide team on 9LV software integration and associated artefacts
  • Communicate and coordinate with project teams and fellow Maritime integrators
  • Prepare, monitor and revise software development estimates and forecast for the production and integration of software to meet the objectives of multiple projects
  • Be responsible for the resolution of problem reports allocated to the Integration team
  • Coach, technically lead and guide software team members
  • Set performance orientated goals, manage team members’ performance and provide regular feedback
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • As time permits, execute software engineering tasks

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Software integration
  • A tertiary qualification in systems engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline
  • Development of large software projects
  • Demonstrated understanding of the lifecycle of large software development projects
  • Producing and reviewing technical documentation
  • Interpretation and application of software standards
  • Products, development environment and the tools used to develop and support the software
  • An understanding of the full software engineering lifecycle

Applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain a NV1 defence clearance.
