As part of Saab’s role on the Hunter Class Frigate Program, the Combat Systems Engineer – Underwater Warfare (UWW), will play a key role in furthering the development of the Hunter Class Combat System., specifically as it relates to the platform’s UWW capability.
The successful candidate will:
Contribute to the engineering design of the Hunter Class Frigate’s Land Based Test Site (LBTS) to support UWW and its associated systems/equipment such as sonars, torpedo launchers and acoustic decoys
Contribute to the integration of UWW capability within the wider Combat System
Provide technical input into procurement, design reviews, installation, test, trials, acceptance and engineering change activities
Develop specifications and statements of work for procurement of OEM systems and related command and control
Support the UWW engineering delivery teams to mature the sensor, effector and command and control design
Support the LBTS team with physical installation information, integration planning and development and technical management of supplier LBTS scope
Your skills and experience will include:
Tertiary engineering qualifications in a related technical discipline
Knowledge about contemporary engineering process, standards, principles and best practices
Sound understanding and experience of engineering in large scale complex systems
Thorough understanding of the entire systems engineering lifecycle
Experience of UWW systems and equipment in a surface naval environment
Well-developed written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work with others in a team environment.
As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.
