We are looking for a highly motivated and confident Communications & PR Specialist to join our Saab UK Corporate Affairs Team based at our Fareham site. You will work primarily with our underwater business across our offering of Seaeye robotics to plan and implement communications strategies across multiple channels.

This role offers the opportunity to be embrace a range of communications disciplines so the ideal candidate must be flexible and have a willingness to learn and adapt. From the creation of creative communications that deliver against strategic priorities to handling trade media; you will report to the Communications and Brand Manager to produce high-quality material and impactful coverage.

The ideal candidate:

  • Whilst we will consider exceptional graduates we are looking for candidates that have had relevant previous job experience (2+ years)
  • Has an interest in robotics and artificial intelligence in the maritime domain as well as wider defence technology and manufacturing
  • Able to build strong relationships and networks with colleagues, clients and the media and answer enquiries from the media and other organisations
  • Experience developing and maintaining media relations to secure positive media coverage
  • Experience of writing and implementing communications plans for projects or campaigns
  • Researching, writing and distributing press releases to targeted media
  • Monitoring the media, including newspapers, magazines, journals, broadcasts, newswires, social media sites and blogs, for market intelligence and proactive opportunities
  • The ability to communicate compelling stories and key messages to specific target audiences through a variety of mediums, including effective and engaging copywriting
  • Prepare and supervise the production of publicity brochures, handouts, direct mail leaflets, promotional videos, photographs, films and multimedia programmes
  • Knowledge of basic-intermediate graphic design principles and experience applying these to produce content for digital and print mediums (InDesign, Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Experience organising and delivering events (such as staff events, press briefs, exhibitions, open days and site tours), source speakers and seek out sponsorship opportunities (in support of the Internal Communications and Events Manager)
  • Maintaining and updating information on the organisation's website
  • Managing and updating information and engaging with users on social media sites such as LinkedIn
  • Foster good community relations through events such as open days and through involvement in community initiatives (in support of the Internal Communications and Events Manager)
  • The ability to work as part of a busy and high performing international team
