Electrical/ Computer Engineer Co-Op (Surveillance, Spring 2022, Paid)

Saab's Surveillance U.S. Division in East Syracuse, NY is in search of motivated, enthusiastic Electrical or Computer Engineering students who are interested in applying their studies to real-world practice through a paid Electrical or Computer Engineering Co-Op/ Internship opportunity for the Spring 2022 semester.
Under the guidance of Senior Engineers, Co-Ops will assist engineering in the design, development and test of various electronic circuit card assemblies. This includes:
Design and implementation of basic circuits.
Design, implementation, simulation and test of VHDL based Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) firmware.
Bench testing of various circuit cards including first article hardware and legacy hardware.
Assist in the generation of various artifacts/documentation including circuit board schematics and bills of material.
Skills and Experience:
Enrollment in an accredited degree program, with a major in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
Completed Sophomore year or greater at time of hire.
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
Prior Co-Op experience is preferred, but not required.
Understanding of basic circuit theory.
Understanding of digital logic design.
Must be able to read and decipher an electrical schematic.
Working knowledge of VHDL.
Ability to effectively use MS Word and Excel.
Ability to use rudimentary test equipment including Oscilloscopes, Digital Multimeters, and power supplies.
Must demonstrate good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Willingness and excitement to learn and take on new challenges.
Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
Must be a U.S. citizen, Permanent Resident (green card holder), or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
