Saab's Air Traffic Management - Safety & Efficiency division in East Syracuse, NY is seeking motivated, enthusiastic Engineering students who are interested in applying their studies and learning new skills through an Engineering Co-Op/ Internship assignment. Areas of focus include software, systems, test, and project engineering. Assignments will be for the Spring 2022 semester, with potential to extend through Summer.

The Air Traffic Management business encompasses various forms of detecting, tracking, and reporting on aircraft while in flight and on the surface of airports.  We specialize in the design and deployment of embedded solutions, the development of integrated surveillance systems, and the fusion of information to create a comprehensive view of the operational environment. As a full-fledged member of the team, you will support products and programs for customers from Adelaide to Zurich.

As a Co-Op at Saab, you will have the opportunity to make a direct impact on state-of-the-art products that save lives. Under the guidance of Senior Engineers, responsibilities and learning opportunities may include:

  • Work closely with a cross-functional team of engineers to ensure products used for Air Traffic Safety and Efficiency meet requirements and intended use.

  • Design, implement, and troubleshoot complex systems.

  • Apply principles, techniques, and processes to solve engineering problems.

  • Integrate components in a lab environment.

  • Develop product and program documentation.

  • Interact with colleagues and customers around the globe.

Skills and Experience:

  • Enrollment in an accredited degree program, with a focus in an Engineering discipline, computer science, physics, mathematics, or other related discipline.

  • Completed Sophomore year or greater at time of hire.

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

  • Prior Co-Op experience is preferred, but not required.

  • Expertise with Microsoft Office and Windows applications.

  • Ability to manage a dynamic workload in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

  • Willingness and excitement to learn and take on new challenges.

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills.

  • Familiarity with Unix, and/or Linux is desired.

  • Experience with Python, Java, and/or C++ is desired.

  • Experience with MATLAB and/or LabVIEW is desired.

Citizenship Requirements:

Must be a U.S. citizen, Permanent Resident (green card holder), or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).

Pre-employment Screening Requirements:
