Engineering Manager

Job Description:

Saab, Inc. is searching for an Engineering Manager to lead a team of approximately one dozen Production Test Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Production Test Technicians to develop, support, and mature manufacturing operations at the national headquarters in East Syracuse, NY.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Leading a Test Engineering team in a RF/Electrical manufacturing environment, focused on manufacturing line support, advanced troubleshooting, test procedure revisions, and test setup/equipment. Team size is currently 7 Test Engineers and 2 Technicians.

  • Leading a Manufacturing Engineering team focused on manufacturing line support, developing manufacturing fixtures and assembly aides, drafting, and revising assembly instructions, and maintaining plant layout. Team size is currently 4 Manufacturing Engineers.

  • Daily tactical assignment of Manufacturing Engineers, Test Engineers, and Test Technicians

  • Coaching team on core tenants of each respective discipline

  • Engage with manufacturing leadership to ensure production efforts are supported

  • Aggregate and prioritize facility requests, capital requests, and technology needs within manufacturing

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 5+ years manufacturing experience, with 3+ years in a leadership position

  • Experience leading a technical team in a mixed technologies environment.

  • Understanding of Lean and Six Sigma principles and concepts

  • Knowledge of RF and Digital Test Equipment

  • Knowledge of Technical Data Packages (technical drawings, BOMs, Test Requirements Documents, etc.)

  • Strong problem solving and root cause determination skills

  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing 

  • Understanding of fixture development and fabrication

  • Experience with basic cost accounting and capital expenditure processes

  • Experience in cost estimation for both materials and labor
