Integration & Test Engineer (Air Traffic Management)

Job Description:

Saab Inc.’s Surveillance U.S. Division is seeking motivated Integration and Test Engineers to work at our Headquarter facility in East Syracuse, NY.

Make an immediate impact by supporting the surveillance systems that encompass all forms of detecting and tracking aircraft while in flight and on the surface of airports, including radar, multilateration, and Automatic Dependent Surveillance - Broadcast.  Saab, Inc. specializes in the design and deployment of these solutions, the development of integrated surveillance systems, and the fusion and display of the information each creates.  As a member of the team, not only will you have the opportunity to support the integration and testing of these products for deployment to customers within the U.S., you will also learn the ins and outs of the products for career development.  The location of this position is flexible, depending on a candidate’s experience, with the ability to either work remotely (within the Northeast region) or onsite in the East Syracuse, NY office.

Responsibilities and development opportunities include:

  • Discovery, investigation, and solving of problems.

  • Working on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires review of various factors.

  • Developing, documenting, and executing test approaches and procedures.

  • Conducting and supporting system integration in a lab environment.

  • Assisting in hardware and software troubleshooting.

  • Conducting engineering dry runs, formal testing, and regression testing.

  • Creating test scenarios using various simulators.

  • Performing data analysis, preparing test briefings, and writing test reports.

  • The responsible for small projects or multiple tasks within functional discipline.

  • Interacting with internal and external customers on technical and programmatic issues.

This role is mostly software-focused, though there may be tasks involving electronics and RF equipment.

Compensation Range: $75,800-$94,800

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited degree program, with a major in an engineering discipline, computer science, physics, or mathematics.

  • 0-3+ years of experience in a technical environment

  • The ability to be creative and solve problems

  • To be comfortable in a test lab environment

  • Experience with Microsoft tools and Microsoft Windows applications

  • Experience with testing a cloud service architecture

  • The ability to manage a dynamic workload in a fast-paced environment

  • Clear, concise, and correct written and oral communication, including grammar, spelling, and composition

  • High standards of quality and attention to detail

Desired:

  • Experience with software and hardware test methodologies and regression testing

  • Experience with software, hardware, and system integration activities

  • Familiarity with Unix, and/or Linux

  • Familiarity with MATLAB, DOORS, and JIRA

  • Experience with TCP/IP networking and protocols

  • Familiarity with Cloud Technologies, Kubernetes, Micro services, Docker, Cloud Storage, Cloud Networking, Python, Java, and/or C++

  • Familiarity with testing messaging middleware

  • Familiarity with operating electronic test gear such as oscilloscopes and waveform generators

  • Experience working in an agile development environment

  • Understanding of the use of configuration management, quality assurance, requirement management systems, and automatic testing tools

Must be a U.S. citizen, Permanent Resident (green card holder), or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
