Your Role:

Saab Canada Inc. is seeking a Junior Project Manager to be based in Halifax, Nova Scotia who will be responsible to perform administrative functions on complex government contracts. The role includes working closely with the project manager, managing systems for tracking projects and associated deliverables, collecting and analyzing data, reporting results and metrics to both internal and external stakeholders, and assisting with project and program process. The successful candidate will be responsible for moving projects through the process and monitoring their projects progress for its entire life cycle.

Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist the project manager / lead in coordination of project activities
  • Develop and monitor purchase orders and quotations
  • Research and retrieve information to address specific inquiries and data requirements
  • Provide general project information to inquiries received via all incoming channels
  • Review and approve vendor invoices and development of support documentation
  • Collaborate with departments across the company, key stakeholders and external vendors, facilitate meetings when necessary
  • Support the project manager in monitoring contract deliverables
  • Maintain project records and databases
  • Develop and maintain project key performance indicators
  • Manage administrative tasks and organize documentation for project diligence

Your Skills & Experience:

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, Business or related discipline required
  • 3 + years’ direct work experience in the aerospace or defense industry or equivalent experience
  • Project Management Professional certification would be an asset
  • Experience working with government contracts
  • Demonstrated success in project delivery and execution of project management methods

Required Skills:

  • Expert knowledge in usage of project management tools / software
  • Must have effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Must be a problem solver with a strong customer focus
  • Exceptional time management, project planning, analytical and communication skills, both verbal & written
  • Must have knowledge of financial management, technology management and internal controls
  • Excellent computer skills with superior knowledge in Excel and other Microsoft Office programs
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, especially during time sensitive situations

This employment opportunity is a 12-month contract position with a strong possibility of an extension into a full time role.
