Lead Proposal Professional
Saab in East Syracuse, NY is seeking a Lead Proposal Professional to join the U.S. Marketing and Sales team. The individual in this role will work on a variety of proposals for all business segments, with a primary focus on U.S. defense products and support the civil domain as needed. This is a challenging position in a fast-paced and crucial part of the business development process. It offers a chance to explore a variety of the Saab product solutions, work with all levels of staff, management, and executives in a very hands-on way, as well as demonstrate leadership, exercise creativity, and develop a broad range of experience.
We are looking for an individual with a solid understanding of the proposal process, as well as business awareness of financial and contractual issues. Successful applicants will require the ability to lead teams, interact with a variety of internal and external resources, work independently, and apply judgment throughout the proposal development process to manage risk and ensure good communication. While we are looking for an experienced professional who can take a lead role in defense work, our proposal managers are very hands on, meaning creating templates, compliance matrices, and supporting documents.
Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
Independent management of several proposals
Analyze RFPs and determine proposal requirements
Establish proposal schedules
Coordinate teams of proposal responsible individuals (RIs) in document revision process
Monitor assignments and adherence to project schedule
Use computer software to manage proposal documents and boilerplate materials
Basic mentorship and training of capture team members in all aspects of proposal process
Guidance of other proposal center staff when needed
Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a related discipline is required. Master's degree is a plus.
15+ years of business experience with a significant portion directly related to proposal development.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent teamwork and team management skills.
Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
Business experience with financial and contracts processes.
RFP assessment, bid strategy development and proposal management.
Citizenship Requirements:Must be a U.S. citizen. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
