Lead Radar Systems Engineer (Northeast U.S. Remote)
Saab is seeking a Senior Staff (Lead) Radar Systems Engineer to help advance our Digital AESA systems capabilities in the U.S, and become an integral part of the team that provides engineering customer solutions within the maritime and ground based radar domains. The location of this position is flexible; the successful candidate will have the ability to either work remotely (within the Northeast region) or onsite in the East Syracuse, NY office.

The Senior Staff Systems Engineer will lead the design, development, prototyping of Digital AESA solutions using models and simulations and engineering best practices in support of the U.S. radar development and modernization. Saab’s focus in the U.S. is to develop elemental digital beamformed radar solutions for the DoD and Civil radar markets, leveraging existing Saab Corp technology development in Digital AESA, sensor technologies. This role is crucial to bringing the capabilities needed by our customers, establishing and advancing Saab’s position in the market.
Responsibilities will include:
Lead the system trades, design, development, prototyping and production of advanced digital radar solutions working with a team of product development, technologists and manufacturing personnel responsible for business development and program execution.
Serve as the face of the organization to external customers for Science and Technology (S&T) and development programs.
Design responsibilities include system, power system management, cooling and signal processing architectures.
Support contract negotiation, coordinate technical proposal preparation future programs.
Collaborate across the functional organizations within Saab in the U.S. and across the global corporation.
Lead internal Saab investment systems and technology development that align to the digital AESA radar product line development.
Work with supply chain management regarding forging strategic supplier relationships with commercial entities as well as university research organizations.
Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in appropriate engineering or scientific discipline is required. Master's or PhD is preferred.
10+ years of professional experience is required.
Demonstrated proficiency in conducting technical research.
Experience working with Department of Defense (DoD) customers, specifically S&T and system development communities.
Proven project leadership with Advanced Radar Systems.
Demonstrated responsibility for program execution and product development strategies, leading teams in the aerospace and defense industry.
Previously demonstrated leadership management skills with cross functional experience.
Strong business acumen and proven customer relationship management skills.
Demonstrated ability to interact and influence suppliers, customer, key stakeholders (internal and external to the organization).
Experience with the DoD architectural framework and design guidance for radar systems and systems engineering processes.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, ability to effectively communicate to senior leadership within the company, customer and academic communities.
Strong analysis skills and abilities.
