Manager, IT Datacenter Operations

Job Description:

Saab, Inc. is seeking a motivated and seasoned IT Professional to lead our IT Datacenter Operations Team.  The Data Center Manager is responsible for all aspects of the data center, including overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the data center.  This individual will lead and manage a team responsible for data center infrastructure, including, servers, networks, and databases for the entire Saab, Inc. enterprise.  The team also maintains the health and availability of all cloud environments, disaster recovery (DR) facility and other DR related solutions.

This position requires close partnership with the IT Support Team, IT Architecture Team and the Business Systems Team to plan, design, support, and operate the IT Infrastructure in a secure and efficient manner to meet the continuously changing demands of the businesses.

The Datacenter Manager will be responsible for IT workflow management across all areas of the Datacenter Operations function, including incident and problem management, change management, service requests, lifecycle and asset management, configuration management.  The individual will be responsible for maximizing the utilization of technology and available resources to achieve financial expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Information Technology professionals within the company to ensure hardware is available for projects and working properly.

  • Account for possible project challenges on constraints including, risks, time, resources, and scope.

  • Work closely with project management teams to successfully monitor progress of initiatives.

  • Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions.

  • Define clear goals for all aspects of a project and manage their proper execution.

  • Document and monitor requirements needed to institute proposed updates.

  • Research emerging technology, competitive threats, deficiencies, and industry and market trends to assist in product development and/or operational support activities. Assist in developing technology recommendations, based on business relevance, appropriate timing and deployment complexity.

  • Prepare plans for development and installation of data center according to present and future requirements.

  • Monitor all software and hardware products and ensure compliance to Data Center standards and systems.

  • Administer installation and maintenance of organization data center.

  • Monitor all activities related to analysis and implement all data center plans.

  • Supervise designing and evaluation of all server systems according to measurement of process.

  • Perform troubleshoot on data center, identify issues, and assist in timely resolution of same.

  • Manage and perform research to design new advanced data center.

  • Ensure adherence to all established guidelines and management practices for employees.

  • Coordinate with various departments and perform integration of critical systems into infrastructure.

  • Coordinate with IT, enhancement and business teams and develop strategies to ensure achievement of data center capacity.

  • Maintain expert knowledge on all applications and its use on systems for various critical systems.

  • Ensure client satisfaction and provide optimal level of customer services for various departments.

  • Maintain effective professional relationships with IT relationship managers.

  • Maintain expert knowledge on all business procedures associate with assets and capacity.

  • Monitor all functional resources required for growth and ensure appropriate working.

Compensation Range: $120,800-$157,000

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred or 8+ years of experience.

  • 4+ years of supervision.

  • 4+ years of Budget management.

  • Project management and leadership skills are essential.

  • Ability to work well under pressure with time restraints.

  • Strong leadership, communications (oral & written), organizational and delegation skills.

  • Experience developing IT datacenters and infrastructure.

  • Current understanding of best practices regarding system security measures.

  • Positive outlook in meeting challenges and working to an elevated level.

  • Professional experience working with and analyzing computer hardware and software.

  • Extensive knowledge and experience working with various operating systems.

  • Strong experience with AD, GPO, DNS and DHCP.

  • Strong experience with Exchange and Hybrid environments.

  • Experience with Skype\Teams VoIP systems.

  • Experience with Azure and other Cloud solutions.

  • Strong experience with VMware.

  • Strong experience in network (Cisco, NSX, FortiGate, Palo Alto, Load Balancers, VPN).

  • Strong experience with Netapp\Pure Storage SANs.

  • Strong experience with Dell Hardware.

  • Strong knowledge with DR\BC concepts.

  • Knowledge of Zero Trust, ISO NIST and CMMC security frameworks.

  • Knowledge of scripting and automation.
