Job Description:
Saab, Inc. is seeking a Network Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers in the development of reliable and cost-effective architectural approaches and specific designs to support the networking requirements of our diverse line of civil aviation, security, and defense products and services that are deployed around the world.
Responsibilities Include:
Lead and develop the Network Engineering Team to meet technical, program, and business objectives.
Plan resources and staff needed to meet short and long term business requirements.
Recruit staff to provide an appropriate mix of technical skills across the team and to meet business demand.
Assign appropriate personnel to projects and programs.
Ensure all personnel have established relevant goals and objectives that link directly to the objectives of the business.
Provide technical oversight, guidance, mentorship and coaching to assigned personnel in the performance of their assigned tasks.
Manage the annual performance review process, compensation reviews, and career development process.
Maintain department competencies by creating a training strategy and providing training opportunities for employees to continue their professional development.
Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of functional managers, program managers, system engineers, product engineers, and technical support engineers to ensure the execution and delivery of a quality end product within cost and schedule targets.
Estimate costs for activities related to contract proposals, IR&D, Capital, and assigned overhead budgets.
Manage resources to meet budget and schedule targets.
Support technology roadmap planning and influence program decisions regarding networking approaches.
Develop innovative technical solutions, assess technical risk and identify risk mitigation strategies.
Be a champion for quality and continuous improvement of processes.
Compensation Range: $108,000-$137,700
The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.
Skills and Experience:
Required Education, Experience and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline.
15+ years of relevant experience in a technical/engineering environment.
Subject matter expert in the networking field with ability to provide strategic direction regarding networking for projects and programs.
Relevant Cisco certifications highly desired.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, decentralized environment.

Forecast resource requirements needed to meet business objectives.
Measure team and process performance through the definition and use of appropriate metrics.
Grow management and technical talent by identifying, crafting and implementing appropriate development plans.
Establish goals, guidelines and methods to be used within team.
Plan and manage an operating budget for the Network Engineering Team.
