We are searching for students for a master thesis to support weight prediction of conceptual designs.   

Your role

Weight and Balance are important aircraft characteristics. When developing conceptual designs of military aircraft with high operational ability it is vital to quickly and accurately predict the mass properties of the aircraft.

The aim of this Master Thesis aim is to analyse and develop various approaches for weight prediction of subsystems in the aircraft and improve the methodology for early weight predictions of military aircraft.

This methodology is used to support sales-, market- and technical teams to specify factors as range, payload and operating conditions for the conceptual designs.

Your profile

This Master Thesis is suitable for 1 or 2 students with interest in aviation and engineering methods.

You are at the end of your master degree education within Aeronautical-, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and about to start your Master Thesis work for 30 HP.

The Master Thesis will be part of the Mass properties engineering team together with Future Programs at Saab Aeronautics in Linköping.

Mass properties engineering is the technical discipline responsible for the weight and balance attributes of the airborne products. Mass properties engineering is involved in all the project phases from conceptual design to customer support.

Future Programs develop and deliver technologies and solutions aimed for the next generation air domain systems. Future Programs develop Saab’s concept design work within the air domain as well as executing projects within research and technology.
