Do you want to develop people and methodology in the role of Manager within Materials Engineering? Interact with many competences along the product development and the life cycle of advanced systems?

Your role


The role as manager for the Materials Engineering section is aimed for you that want to make a difference. This is a relatively new section, so one part of the job is to develop this section. This section will contribute with pro-active and specialized support when it comes to choices in the product development, but is also be there if things fail during production or use. Another part of the job is to develop and maintain the capabilities; an advanced analysis laboratory and a pre-prototype workshop for electronics.

You will have several important interfaces to develop and have continuous dialog with. From discussions with Product Units during the early definition phase of a new product, to support Sourcing & Production with specialized competence in contact with suppliers and within our own production line. The aim is to support with our competence and capability to make wise choices.

Most of the work will be within the following areas:

  • Develop and care for your employees
  • Interaction with important interfaces to support with our competences
  • Defining and driving both short and long-term goals
  • Responsibility for personnel and budget within your section

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.

Your profile

Your interest in people and how to motivate as well as support them in their daily work matters most. Your drive to develop this new section to meet the organization’s needs, both short and long -term, will be highly valued. A technical background is important to be relevant for this position and the challenges you will phase. Experience from an industry with low volume series and/or advanced products is a merit.

Required skills:

  • An academic degree within a technical field
  • Interest in making things better
  • Experience in leading and developing people

Desired skills:

  • Product development background
  • Knowledge and experience in the field of material analysis

You will be a part of the EW Systems business unit which provides world class signal intelligence systems and self-protection systems for the next generation the Gripen and the Globaleye. The Materials & Components Engineering section is organized within the Hardware Engineering department. The department is responsible for the hardware development of our products and consist of around 100 coworkers. It is divided in seven sections with a wide range of competences and responsibilities; all from electronics to structural analysis. In your role as a manager you will be a part of the Hardware Engineering management team to contribute and share responsibilities for the development of the department. The role will also include interaction with our on-site production and other disciplines within the Engineering organization. Welcome to make a difference with your drive and curiosity!
