Saab, Inc. is seeking a Mid-Level Product Development (Radar) Systems Engineer to support the design and development of our next-generation airport surface movement radar, as well as to support the design and implementation for a variety of naval and ground-based, air search defense radars. This is a mid-level role where we are seeking candidates with 8-10 years experience.
The ideal candidate will utilize their expert technical skills to develop models and simulations, analyze hardware, and apply engineering best practices as part of a growing radar analysis and design team in the US.
You must understand how to extract stakeholder radar and processing requirements, validate them, and translate them into practical system solutions that support customer needs throughout the product lifecycle.

Specific Job Responsibilities Include:
Defining requirements, developing models and simulations, performing design analysis, and supporting the development, production, and validation of the next generation surface movement radar.
Design responsibilities include radar signal processing, analog RF subsystems, power systems, thermal management, and overall system architecture.
Provide technical insight to multiple radar implementation teams with diverse engineering disciplines including: digital electronics, RF design, mechanical hardware, FPGA firmware, embedded software, integration, production, and test.
Support and mentor junior engineers on radar analysis and design
Drive engineering best practices and processes into all aspects of radar system design
Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, or Math; advanced degrees preferred.
8+ years of engineering experience (may include postgraduate work)
3+ years of radar analysis and/or design experience
Experience working on commercial and/or defense development projects
Demonstrated responsibility for product development processes.
Experience working in multi-disciplinary technical teams from development through manufacturing and deployment support
Strong analog and digital RF analysis and modelling skills (e.g., MATLAB and/or Simulink) with the ability to apply results to practical implementation and testing
Ability to communicate and make presentations to senior leadership and engineering teams within the company and customer communities.
Experience with the following preferred:
Requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, code Beamer) and Microsoft Office
FPGA development toolchain (e.g., Quartus, ModelSim, DSP Builder, Signal Tap)
- Embedded systems (e.g., Arm, Linux, digital electronics)
High-level software development (e.g., Eclipse IDE, C/C++, Java)
RF and digital test equipment and automation
Position is based in East Syracuse, NY.
