What you will be a part of
You will be a part of Saab’s Public Safety Solutions business unit where we develop and deploy Command, Control and Communication software solutions used by police forces, ambulance services, fire and rescue services, airports and public transport agencies. Our software applications help these organisations to manage critical incidents, respond to people in distress and ultimately help make people and society safer.
We develop market leading software solutions which are critical for our customer’s operations, so the focus is on configurability, functionality, performance and reliability. We work closely with our customers and are driven by a strong end-user focus. We adopt an Agile methodology and we aim to constantly develop and work with the latest technology.

Job Title: Network Architect
Contract Length: Minimum 6 months
Assignment Description:
- Assist with the creation of the solution design (inform the hardware spec/procurement list)
- Configure and implement the hardware into the customer datacentre
- Help PSS as a department shape the future need for network architecture expertise across project, product development and Saab UK IT.
Mandatory Experience
- Project delivery experience from initial customer conversations to completion
- Worked in a combination of strategic architecture and customer project consulting
- Proven experience in selecting, designing and overseeing the deployment of traditional LAN, WAN, and WLAN solutions.
- Architectural experience of product life cycle delivery, owning the design from strategy through to execution.
- A solid grasp of Network Engineering principles (TCP/IP Protocols, IDS, IPS etc.) backed up by strong hands-on capability.
- Experience working across a range of networking toolsets (e.g. Cisco, HPE Aruba, Juniper, Palo Alto etc)
- Strong, hands-on technical knowledge of network operating systems
- A deep understanding of topics such as switching, routing, load balancing, Firewalls and networking monitoring.
- Network vendor management
Desirable Experience
- Experience in areas such as Network Automation or Cloud Networking (Azure) is highly beneficial.
- Hands on and design experience of Azure ExpressRoute, VNET's, VNET Peering, NSG's and VNET Gateways.
- Hands on experience of Vmware networking (both vSphere and NSX-T)
