Surveillance is focused on the design, development, integration, test, deployment, and whole life support of Airborne Active Electronically Steered Array (AESA) technology and systems, primarily for industry partners and US Government agencies.  Saab Inc. is headquartered in Syracuse, NY with locations in MA, IN, DC and FL. The primary organization for Surveillance is in the Syracuse area; however, this position is open to a remote candidate.

Your Role

This position is primarily engaged in the development and fielding of advanced Airborne Early Warning (AEW) RF subsystems and will be responsible for designing AEW AESA Front End Antenna systems for manned and unmanned platforms. As the principal Antenna electrical engineer, you will lead a team of radar engineers in the development of antenna, processing, software, and platform integration requirements. In the early development phase in the system lifecycle, systems engineers will develop parametric representations, visualizations and data driven analysis to support sensor requirements definition and use case validation.

The successful candidate must have broad AESA Antenna engineering background AESA expertise and knowledge of sensors. At times, the position may require provision of SME support to address technical challenges in the execution of programs. Frequent domestic and international travel can be expected.

Skills and Experience:

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering, Science, Math or related discipline. Master's/MBA preferred.

  • 10+ years of relevant experience

  • Recent, highly relevant experience in the development of advanced Airborne Antenna AESA Systems

  • Recent experience working with DoD labs and S&T community.

  • Prior experience determining viability/profitability of new products/concept.

  • Must be able to travel up to 60% of the time.

  • Current SECRET clearance and ability to obtain a TS clearance

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop a comprehensive product strategy spanning the entire product lifecycle (Product Conception through End-of-Life).

  • Ability to assess new technology and emerging product/service trends.

  • Ability to perform systems engineering tasks that lead to the formulation of product definition, product pricing and product launch plans.

  • Ability to implement Model Based Systems Engineering and Design Space Exploration design threads.

  • Ability to perform requirements, analysis and trade study related to AESA programs.

  • Ability to lead a team of engineers performing AESA antenna, processing, software and platform integration requirements development.

  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, and the ability to effectively present results/content to internal or external customers.
