Product Design System Engineers

The role

Working within a team of other Product Design Systems Engineers, the Product Design Systems Engineer is responsible for Combat Management System (CMS) requirements, architecture and design. The role includes a significant component of design assurance with various stakeholders, such as project engineering, combat systems engineering, and software, integration, hardware, verification and speciality engineering (e.g. safety, security and ILS).

Further, the successful candidate will:

  • Analyse and define CMS requirements with awareness of the overall system functionality
  • Architect and design the CMS system family ensuring that CMS variants can be realised for multiple target platforms
  • Collaborate with projects and combat systems engineering to clearly define scope, resolve issues / risks and ensure alignment of project and customer expectations with the CMS development
  • Coordinate  CMS system engineering activities with other engineering disciplines and teams
  • Conduct and/or participate in formal design review meetings (e.g. SRR, PDR, CDR), working groups and demonstrations with internal and external stakeholders
  • Specify and manage change to the engineering baselines for assigned system capabilities
  • Comply with legislation and Company policies, processes and instructions, including those relating to non-discrimination, safety and duty of care and the quality management system

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office, 9 day fortnight and part time (0.8 FTE minimum) will be considered for this role.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Tertiary qualification(s) in systems/software engineering, computer science or related technical discipline
  • Applying system engineering processes, standards, methodologies and approaches to develop SE outputs over several parts of the SE lifecycle
  • Working with multi-discipline teams and building relationships with internal and external customers and stakeholders
  • Producing and reviewing technical documentation
  • Engineering in a defence regulatory environment, or similar
  • Supporting technical reviews, planning, estimation and change control engineering tasks
