The role

As part of our Maritime group and reporting to the Program Director, the Program Manager(s) are responsible for the delivery of major contract outcomes related to Saab’s combat system enterprise and also have the supervisory responsibility of project managers and systems engineering managers for their program to deliver individual project outcomes in a coordinated, programmatic manner.

Further, the successful candidate(s) will:

  • Generate and maintain a master schedule of project milestones with assignment of key roles against projects within their program
  • Monitor and review the execution of projects/tasks, and coordinate activities to achieve the master schedule and individual cost and schedule outcomes
  • Maintain financial oversight of the program area, including budgeting, forecasting and management reporting of financial outcomes
  • Be responsible for revenue, gross margin and cash flow management of the portfolio of projects
  • Assess and capture follow-on business to achieve order intake targets for the program
  • Develop and implement resourcing plans to deliver program outcomes whilst actively managing performance of all direct reports
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Tertiary qualifications in an engineering, technical or business discipline
  • Extensive experience in systems oriented projects with management / supervisory responsibilities
  • Practical experience and theoretical understanding of project management fundamentals
  • Demonstrated negotiation and interrelationship skills with ability to achieve effective outcomes in a multi-disciplined, multi-party environment
  • Demonstrated management and leadership/team building skills, with a track record of mentoring emerging leaders
  • Problem solving skills and a demonstrated ability to develop quick, effective, and reasonable courses of action in emergencies
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and work to tight deadlines
  • Strong competency in customer relations, stakeholder management and development of new business

As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearance.
