Saab in West Lafayette is in search of motivated, enthusiastic Engineering/ Engineering Technology students who are interested in Aerospace and want to apply their studies through a paid Quality Engineer Co-Op/ Internship opportunity for Summer 2022.

Under the guidance of Senior Engineers, Quality Engineering Co-Ops will:

  • Apply acquired knowledge from relevant coursework in an accredited degree program to real-work practices. 

  • Provide support to Quality team while working under direct supervision.

  • Assist with tasks of minimal scope in the Quality business area. Job duties will vary, but are designed to meet the development needs of the student, as well as, provide a medium for the completion of transactional tasks.

  • May be assigned to technical and/or administrative tasks.

  • Learn about and assist in implementation and execution of the Quality Management System principles and processes for this new site.

  • Support process development by integrating quality policy into procedures and continual process improvement.

  • Monitor the assembly cycle and perform regular tests/inspections to identify potential non-conformances as early as possible.

  • Monitor and analyze risk while assisting with risk mitigation plans with root cause analysis and systemic problem solving.

  • Learn about and participate in internal audits to ensure process maturity and capability while ensuring compliance for our customer, production, and supply chain functions.

  • Work with Quality team members to learn about quality principles and systems.

  • Assist in driving a people first culture in alignment to Saab leadership vision.

Skills and Experience:

  • Enrollment in an accredited degree program, with a major in Engineering, Quality, Business or related discipline.

  • Completed Sophomore year or greater at time of hire.

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

  • Coursework or previous experience with Quality Systems, testing and inspection methodologies.

  • Coursework or previous experience with Aerospace is a plus.

  • Prior Co-Op experience is preferred, but not required.

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

  • Willingness and excitement to learn and take on new challenges.

  • Ability to be self-driven and deliver a high quality of work.

  • Ability to drive and lead change. Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills.

Citizenship Requirements:

Must be a U.S. citizen, Permanent Resident (green card holder), or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).

Pre-employment Screening Requirements:
