Job Description:
Saab is seeking Senior Field Services Engineers to perform customer support activities involving the site preparation management, installation, modification and repair of complex electro-mechanical equipment. Responsibilities will include:
Install, integrate, power up and checkout critical airport equipment at locations all over the world.
Apply comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems, plan work sequences, tool selection, and provide technical guidance as needed.
Isolate equipment start-up malfunctions and equipment failures to determine cause and corrective action.
Positively and effectively interface directly with customer representatives, and supervise/ direct subcontractor activities.
Develop, prepare or recommend schematics, specifications, electrical drawings and parts lists.
Participate in installation survey and planning.
Compensation Range: $85,000-$106,200
The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.
Skills and Experience:
5 years' experience in the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of complex electronic equipment and systems, processing equipment, RF sensors and communication equipment, also including electrical distribution and grounding systems supporting computer equipment.
Advanced electrical / electronics training from a Community College, trade school, Military training, or equivalent.
Working knowledge of fiber optics, audio, digital, and wireless radio frequency technologies. Frequencies range from 1 GHz to 9 GHz.
Familiarity with various test equipment such as the Anritsu Site Master, digital volt meters and other equipment is a plus.
Must be able to read and interpret manufacturer's manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, cable and mechanical drawings.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Working knowledge of National Electrical Codes.
Familiarity of FAA standards and airport experience are desired.
Cellular and/or wireless communication systems experience.
Self-starter, resourceful, creative, and flexible. Ability to work both unsupervised or in a team environment, depending on the project.
Demonstrated flexibility and professionalism in stressful situations (customer situations, job situations and supervisory situations).
Customer and subcontractor interface experience.
Strong communication skills.
Must be willing to travel (domestic and international) up to 75% of the time and work flexible hours, often involving overtime and some weekends. Domestic travel is typically scheduled during a normal work week but there are occasions of last minute travel to repair/troubleshoot hardware. International travel frequently requires travel over weekends, depending on location.
A candidate’s proximity to Syracuse Hancock airport may be taken into consideration.
Must be able to obtain a U.S. Government clearance and pass background investigations to obtain local airport badges.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Must be able to carry bulky, sometimes heavy equipment up a ladder or multiple flights of stairs.
Citizenship Requirements:
Must be a U.S. citizen. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
