Job Description:

Saab, Inc. is seeking a Senior Information Security Engineer who is a strong multi-tasker with a keen eye for details to join our team in Syracuse, NY. The right individual is well organized with the ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-activity situations. This individual will lead cyber efforts for our products, including meetings with customers, and security control selection and implementation, while working closely with the various engineering teams.

Responsibilities involve:

  • Planning, design and build of security architectures

  • Overseeing the implementation of network and computer security and ensures compliance with corporate cybersecurity policies and procedures

  • Implementing software fixes (patches) to remove system vulnerabilities

  • Defining cybersecurity requirements for local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), virtual private networks (VPNs), routers, firewalls, and related network devices.

  • Performing security assessments of applications and systems using penetration testing, vulnerability testing and risk analysis.   

  • Configuring and installing firewalls and intrusion detection systems.

  • Responding immediately to cybersecurity-related incidents and providing a thorough post-event analysis. Investigates intrusion incidents and conducts forensic investigations. 

  • Investigating security alerts to determine applicability to the product environment.

    Skills and Experience:

    • Ability to present results/content to customers (internal or external) or other stakeholders

    • Able to lead and guide the activities of more junior Information Security Engineers

    • Thorough understanding of networks/subnet masks/gateways/routers/VLANs

    • Experience performing DoD ACAS scans

    • Experience implementing NIST 800-53 security controls

    • Developing, applying, and assessing secure technical baselines for various applications and products (i.e., Windows OS, Linux OS, firewalls, switches, etc.)

    • Experiencing applying DoD SRG/STIG’s

    • Experience assessing cyber compliance using DoD STIG Viewer and SCAP Tools

    • Experience with LDAP and Microsoft Active Directory

    • Security audit log analysis

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    • Experience with Ansible or other similar IT automation tools

    • BA/BS degree in an engineering, cyber security, or equivalent discipline
    • 8+ years of relevant experience
    • Security + CE or DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II equivalent certification  

    Or

    • MA/MS degree in an engineering discipline or related discipline
    • 6+ years or relevant experience
    • Security + CE or DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II equivalent certification

    Citizenship Requirements:

    Must be a U.S. citizen. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
