Senior Integration & Test Engineer (Air Traffic Management)
Saab's Surveillance U.S. Division in East Syracuse, NY is currently seeking a Senior Integration & Test Engineer for Surface Surveillance Systems in support of Government contracts. These systems include the Airport Surface Detection Equipment (ASDE-X), Airport Surface Surveillance Capabilities (ASSC), comprising of Multilateration, ADS-B, Surface Movement Radars, Runway Status Lights, in addition, Digital Tower technology to support airlines, airports and air traffic control towers.

Responsibilities will include:
Develop, document, and execute test approaches and procedures for hardware, software, and system level testing.
Discover, investigate, and solve problems.
Plan and lead verification and validation activities.
Conduct engineering dry runs, formal testing, and regression testing.
Perform data analysis, prepare test briefings, and write test reports.
Conduct and support system integration in a lab environment and an operational environment.
Assist in hardware and software troubleshooting.
Generate and investigate problem reports.
Lead technical reviews and status meetings.
Create test scenarios using various simulators
Work in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Identify the interdependencies of products and programs, and plan integration and test events accordingly.
Provide mentoring, technical guidance, and coaching for less-experienced engineers.
Collaborate with proposal team to understand customer requirements and participate in the proposal process.
Contribute to the adoption of new design and development approaches, to improve overall quality, reliability and speed of implementation.
Interact with internal and external customers on technical and programmatic issues.
Note: This is not an aerospace/avionics engineering position. Work is mostly software-focused, though there may be tasks involving electronics and RF equipment.
Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline, Computer Science, Physics or Mathematics. Master's degree is a plus.
6+ years in a technical environment, primarily in a Test Engineering role.
Experience with software, hardware, and system test methodologies and integration activities.
Experience in functional and performance testing.
Experience in MATLAB for tool development/systems analysis.
Familiarity with Unix, and/or Linux.
Ability to write test software in embedded and Windows-based environments, particularly Labview and C/C++.
Understanding of the use of configuration management, quality assurance, requirement management systems, and automatic testing tools.
Ability to independently and effectively interact with all stakeholders (internal/external) on technical issues.
Ability to provide cost-effective estimates for schedule, labor, and equipment required to cover integration and test activities of the team.
Understand the need for control, repeatability, and risk management and act accordingly and proactively.
Ability to work professionally with minimal instruction and without direct guidance or direction from others.
Must be self-motivated, energetic, tenacious, well-organized, flexible, and thorough.
Excellent presentation skills to enable integration and test related material, and effectively communicate in a group environment.
Ability to effectively multi-task and work well in a fast-paced environment.
Attention to detail and an analytical eye for noticing inconsistencies and an innovative passion for reconciling them.
Possess strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, must be able to interface respectfully with co-workers, customers, vendors, and subcontractors.
Experience operating and integrating a variety of electronic test gear, including oscilloscopes, power meters, waveform generators, etc., in RF and digital test applications.
Experience testing RF hardware applications (analog and digital electronic circuit boards and their schematics).
Experience with TCP/IP networking and protocols.
Familiarity with DOORS and JIRA.
Knowledge of air traffic control products.
Capability to generate and review suggested improvements to integration and test process/work instructions.
Experience leading a small team of engineers.
