Senior Manager, Indirect Procurement
Saab, Inc. is seeking a dynamic, results-oriented individual to fill a Senior Manager, Indirect Procurement position. The Senior Manager, Indirect Procurement provides day-to-day leadership and direction to the team of Buyers across Saab, Inc. The Senior Manager, Indirect Procurement reports to the Head of Procurement, US & Canada, within the General Counsel’s organization.
This role will lead a team of Buyers to ensure the selection, negotiation, performance and efficient engagement of key world class suppliers for named military grade, aeronautics, and other commodities. The Senior Manager, Indirect Procurement will work with the Head of Procurement and all functions of the Central Procurement Organization.
Leads the Buyers in executing best practices and measuring performance through defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics
Maintain roles, responsibilities, and commodity / supplier assignments within the team of Buyers
Review and approve supply chain contracts for compliance with government and corporate regulations (particularly FAR and DFARS), DoD and FAA procurement regulations to maintain an approved Contractor Purchasing System
Help to develop and manage Saab’s Supplier Management Program and foster our supplier performance regarding on-time delivery, customer service, quality and YOY savings through consistent communication and a balanced supplier scorecard
Vet suppliers in order to maintain and hold suppliers to the highest code of ethics and conduct
Lead the Buyers in negotiating and managing both international and domestic supply chain agreements to deliver optimum value to the organization
Exhibit strong background in preparing and reviewing contracts, requests for proposals (RFPs), supplier agreements, and customer agreements for legal accuracy, price, and acceptability of items to specifications; negotiating or supervising the negotiation of complex proposals; and implementation of RFP and request for quote (RFQ) processes to assess and evaluate sourcing alternatives
Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree with a focus in operations or related discipline
12- years relevant Procurement/Supply Chain team Management experience
8+ years managing direct and indirect commodity teams
Strong leadership, negotiation, communication and planning skills
Knowledge of Oracle or other ERP systems to increase operational effectiveness, profitability and timely performance within the procurement function
Application of Lean, Six-Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies to enhance processes, procedures and forms/templates in the areas of supplier development, lean purchasing, and technology-driven innovation
Strong managerial skills of employees of varied degrees of skills and employee development
Ability to work within a matrixed environment
Professional certification (CPM, etc.) or MBA
Prior experience in an approved Contractor Purchasing System environment
Experience with materials planning within an ERP system
International SCM experience
Extensive technical understanding of surface based RF surveillance systems, aeronautics, or other high technology systems
