Senior Supplier Program Manager

Job Description:

Saab, Inc. has a career opportunity for a dynamic, results-oriented Supplier Program Manager (SPM) to join the rapidly growing North America Central Procurement team. As an SPM you will have the responsibility of executing and managing high-dollar and highly complex procurements and overseeing subcontracted technical development projects. 

This position can be staffed in the following manner:

  • Work from the Saab office in either Syracuse, New York or Orlando, Florida, with some work from home benefits. Travel to Syracuse no more than once quarterly is required; OR

  • Work remote with the expectation that travel to Syracuse no more than twice quarterly is required. The ideal remote candidate would reside in the Central or Eastern Time zones for ease of conducting business with Saab Syracuse.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Leading the strategic supply chain planning and management of complex, subcontracted development projects

  • Supplier Identification, Screening, Selection, and Approval

  • Work across multiple sites and international coordination

  • Conducting Flow Down Analysis to ensure compliance to customer requirements (FAR/DFARS, FAA, International requirements)

  • Creating SOWs with cross-functional Input

  • Determining requirements that are appropriate to ensure regulatory compliance and to mitigate risk

  • Issuing RFI’s & RFQ’s and ensuring receipt of complete information

  • Participating in Proposals for Material and Labor

  • Executing Subcontracts, Inter-divisional Work Transfer Agreements, NDA’s, Leasing agreements, and Long-Term Agreements

  • Writing Contracts Letters and maintaining comprehensive legal records in compliance with USG Certified Purchasing System Requirements

  • Negotiating all aspects of Subcontracts including Price, Delivery, and Terms & Conditions

  • Facilitating rhythm meetings and driving actions to closure

  • Leading resolution of technical and programmatic supplier issues

  • Tracking and expediting all Subcontracts including deliveries, SDRL’s, updates, and close-outs.

  • May assist with Metrics, Reporting, Continuous Improvement, and other Strategic Initiatives

Skills and Experience:

  • BA/BS degree with 10+ years of experience or MBA/MS/JD degree with 8+ years of experience

  • Professional certification or advanced degree preferred (CCM, CFCM, CPCM, PMP)

  • Advanced Purchasing experience- comprehensive understanding of fundamentals, building orders in an ERP system

  • Experience with contracting methods and types

  • Analytical thinking and problem solving- ability to apply sound judgement and creativity

  • Communication / Interpersonal Relationships

  • Financial Acumen- ability to determine cost reasonableness

Desired Skills:

  • 5 or more years of significant experience in an Engineering development environment, with preference for aerospace and defense experience

  • USG, DoD, or FAA contracts experience

  • Cross-functional experience in Quality, Engineering, Finance, Manufacturing, Program Management.

  • Continuous Improvement (Black Belt, Green Belt)

  • Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS)

  • Leadership and Presentations

  • Willingness to travel up to 25% in support of program and business development efforts.

  • Must be capable of obtaining a Secret level clearance.
