Senior Systems Engineer - FAA Enterprise Information Architect

Saab Inc. is currently searching for self-motivated and experienced Senior Systems Engineers to conduct requirements and functional analysis, systems integration and test methodologies for Java Services technology to support the nation-wide Federal Aviation Administration Enterprise Network Services (FENS) infrastructure transformation program.

 

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to work on leading-edge technologies to build and deliver a dynamic, highly available and secure information management system for the Next Generation Air Transportation System.  As a Senior Systems Engineer on the team, you will have the chance to work with a diverse group of internal and external team members, spanning numerous disciplines and all experience levels.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design, architecture, planning, support and any other technological duties associated with the JAVA Message Brokering environment

  • Participate in high level technical concepts spanning technology and business

  • Perform analysis of messaging / integration requirements and associated hardware requirements to determine solutions and customizations

  • Provides the strategy and design to build utilities and automation for middleware messaging / integration tasks required for Tech Refresh projects, BCP, installations, configurations, upgrades and testing

  • Configuring ActiveMQ, Solace, Weblogic from an infrastructure perspective, including performance monitoring, integration functions, delivery status and network management

  • Configuring adaptors from an application connectivity perspective

  • Handling Messaging features and functions typically used by applications, including ack/nak, recovery and error handling

  • Installs, configures, deploys and troubleshoots issues on middleware messaging for applications in a complex, multi-platform environment (z/OS, Linux, Windows); interacts and consults with development teams on technical projects and issues

  • Assures quality, security and compliance requirements are met for supported area; as well as contributing to updating and testing the business continuity plan

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar

  • 5+ years of technology infrastructure engineering and solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, education

  • Must obtain FAA Position of Trust clearance

  • Demonstrated experience in either ActiveMQ, Solace Messaging, and/or Oracle WebLogic Administration

  • Demonstrated experience in either Oracle AQ, JBOSS Messaging, Open MQ/Open JMS, and/or Django

  • Messaging Middleware/Integration – Understanding of the application middleware space

  • An understanding of SOA and JMS are essential and working knowledge of AMQP, REST, JavaScript, MQTT would all be assets

  • Application Integration with Java, JavaScript, ESB/API tools and/or C /C

  • Working experience with Technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, PaaS platforms

  • Experience with Oracle Fusion Middleware (WebLogic), including command line management tools (WebLogic.Admin, WebLogic.Deployer, WebLogic Scripting Tool)

  • Java/J2EE, JDeveloper, SOAP, UCM, Webdav, and Content Management experience

  • Tuning and optimization of WebLogic – develop standards and tuning metrics and define thresholds

  • Diverse range of technical capabilities, including Microsoft, SQL Server, Oracle, virtualization, monitoring including APM, and Linux

  • Scripting experience including SQL, PowerShell, JSON, and Python

  • Automation and performance monitoring technologies

  • Linux experience is a must have
