Job Description:
Saab Inc. is currently searching for self-motivated and experienced Senior Systems Engineers to conduct requirements and functional analysis, systems integration and test methodologies for Cloud Services technology to support the nation-wide Federal Aviation Administration Enterprise Network Services (FENS) infrastructure transformation program.
This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to work on leading-edge technologies to build and deliver a dynamic, highly available and secure information management system for the Next Generation Air Transportation System. As a Senior Systems Engineer on the team, you will have the chance to work with a diverse group of internal and external team members, spanning numerous disciplines and all experience levels.
Role and Responsibilities
Participate in the design, planning, support and any other technological duties associated with the cloud computing environment
Design and Integrate the provisions of a cloud-based infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
Design and Integrate APIs to consume IT services (eg Active Directory Domain Services)
Design, Integrate, deployment and maintain Kubernetes platforms in multiple environments and classification levels
Works within the team to collaborate on software solutions, works to ensure good documentation, and is constantly willing to tackle new skills to meet the shifting demands of the public cloud and Kubernetes world
Analyze cloud-based services to determine how to automate their deployment consistent with policies and standards
Design and Integrate automated provisioning of new services
Design and Integrate Security and Compliance Controls
Develop and Publish Technical Standards
Actively participate on an Agile infrastructure product team including daily standups, demos, retrospectives, sprint planning, etc
Perform work consistent with agreed upon team goals and priorities; Assist team members as requested or required
Design and Integrate test automation suites to ensure the quality of products
Customizes Cloud software based on research and customer needs
Prepare detailed specifications from which programs will be written, designed, coded, tested and debugged
May consult with users and develop business relationships and integrate activities with other IT components to ensure successful implementation
Monitor and report to management on the status of project efforts, anticipating/identifying issues that inhibit the attainment of project goals and implementing corrective actions
Full Stack application development experience
Formulates and defines system scope and objectives for assigned projects
Formulate and define system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding to develop business systems
Collaborate and create cloud governance policies
Works alongside architects, designers, frontend engineers, and others to deliver software systems that support services as directed by the Cloud Technical Lead
Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar
8+ years of experience in hands on platform engineering ideally in large-scale software projects or As A Service (aaS) model
Must be able to obtain FAA Position of Trust clearance
Hands on experience in Kubernetes and Cluster Management
Experience with deploying Kubernetes within a platform or cloud offerings, including GCP, AWS, or Azure
Demonstrated experience with Kubernetes managed storage solutions or databases (velero, ceph)
Demonstrated experience in Kubernetes hardening or cybersecurity best practices
Experience with container tools, including kubectl, K9s, Docker, Kubernetes, or Rancher (RKE2)
Experience building and shipping services around Kubernetes, Cloud Native, and Cloud Service Providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure.)
Networking experience with one of the top cloud providers in the context of Kubernetes
Capable of consulting on how to refactor software to run better in systems such as Kubernetes
Experience with infrastructure-as-code environments, including activities around the automated server or network configurations, large-scale software deployments, or monitoring and testing, such as continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD)
Hands on working knowledge around standard AWS services, such as EC2, S3, Lambda, VPCs, Load balancing, Networking and Monitoring Health of these services using tools/processes
Hands on experience in deploying AWS Cloud Formation scripts, Terraform and SSL Certificates
Good understanding of Cloud Security in AWS, specifically IAM Roles & Polices, Security Groups and Encryption keys
Has knowledge in Cloud Account Management, Security Policies and Governance
Experience with Docker or another container engine
Proficiency with CI/CD tools and implementing pipelines
Interest in building systems using modern, scalable, resilient, cloud native architectures (Containers, Serverless, etc.)
Strong commitment to quality, documentation, and engineering excellence
Proficient interpersonal skills with an ability to reach both technical and non-technical partners
Experience with any programming language
Knowledge in secure SDLC, particularly in a cloud environment
Knowledge on Cloud tools and technologies
Experience with open-source, specifically projects in the CNCF ecosystem
Experience with backend systems and software engineering
Programming experience in a relevant language, e.g. Golang, Python
Understanding of common approaches to software engineering, software architecture and design
Ability to demonstrate Jira, Confluence, and GitLab
Experience with ClusterAPI, Terraform, Tinkerbell, and other infrastructure tooling
Experience with service meshes like Istio and Linkerd
Can discuss and work with CSI, CNI, and CRI
Familiarity with the CNCF and the tooling across the ecosystem
