Senior Systems Engineer (Science & Technology Programs)
Saab is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to help advance our Digital AESA systems capabilities in the U.S, and become an integral part of the team that provides engineering customer solutions within the maritime and ground based radar domains. While this position reports to the Systems Engineering team in East Syracuse, NY, the location of this position is flexible for a highly qualified candidate to work remotely in the U.S. The ideal candidate is looking for an opportunity to grow their expertise and technical skills, has intense intellectual curiosity and a desire to study, understand and apply emerging radar technologies.
The Senior Systems Engineer will design, development, prototyping of Digital AESA solutions using models and simulations and engineering best practices in support of the U.S. radar development and modernization.
Saab’s focus in the U.S. is to develop elemental digital beamformed radar solutions for the DoD and Civil radar markets, leveraging existing Saab Corp technology development in Digital AESA, sensor technologies. This role is crucial to bringing the capabilities needed by our customers, establishing and advancing Saab’s position in the market.
Responsibilities will include:
Execute system trade studies, design, development, prototype and integrate advanced digital radar solutions working with a team of product development, technologists and manufacturing personnel responsible for business development and program execution.
Design responsibilities include system, power system management, cooling and signal processing architectures.
Support technical proposal preparation for future programs.
Collaborate across the functional organizations within Saab in the U.S. and across the global corporation.
Support internal Saab investment systems and technology development that align to the digital AESA radar product line development.
Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in appropriate engineering or scientific discipline is required. Master's or PhD is preferred.
8+ years of professional experience is required.
Experience working with Department of Defense (DoD) customers, specifically S&T and system development communities.
Demonstrated research experience with an emphasis on technologies applicable to Advanced Radar Systems.
Demonstrated ability to apply cutting edge technologies to system prototypes and ultimately to tactical systems.
Experience with the DoD architectural framework and design guidance for radar systems and systems engineering processes.
Ability to effectively collaborate with industry and academic partners.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, ability to effectively communicate to senior leadership within the company, customer and academic communities.
Strong analysis skills and abilities.
