The opportunity

We are growing and looking for Software Engineers to join our Naval Combat Systems (NCS) group.

As the sovereign provider of combat management systems to the Royal Australian Navy, we are responsible for the development and sustainment of Australia’s combat management system capability.

To support this, we are seeking skilled Software Engineers who will be responsible for the specification, design, development, documentation and testing plus maintenance of combat management system software components.  During your time at Saab, you will have the opportunity to work within our teams engaged in development of our Australian Interface, developing and maintaining the Australian Combat Management System (Aus CMS), or working with our international colleagues on our Saab products.

We welcome applicants with experience in the software development lifecycle.  Experience in all areas is not necessary.

·        Experience in full SDLC

·        Writing software requirements for software components

·        Designing, developing and testing software components

·        Defect resolution of legacy software components

·        Primary programming languages Java and/or Ada

·        Linux development environments

·        Experience in C#, C++, Bash, Python and Go is desirable

·        Dockers, Jenkins, DDS, Git, Clearcase and Automated test frameworks are also desirable but not mandatory.

As a defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and be able to obtain and retain a NV1 security clearance.
