The roles

As a fast paced and dynamic organisation, Saab Australia is always looking to grow its core business areas and explore emerging domains of interest. Building on a series of recent Space related activities, Saab Australia is establishing a small, dedicated team within the Chief Engineer Group dedicated to our pursuit of Space domain opportunities. The roles associated with this team include:

Space Domain - Subject Matter Expert:

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing senior systems engineer expert advice and guidance in the pursuit/conduct of Space related activities
  • Providing technical advice/support to projects or business activities requiring specialist Space domain expertise
  • Leading the capture of new Space related work and support the business winning organisation in the pursuit of new business
  • Supporting the Sales team as a domain technical expert within the space industry

Skills/experience required include:

  • Technical leadership in the Space domain
  • Application of the full systems engineering lifecycle and common guiding standards
  • Experience in large scale projects involving multi-disciplinary engineering teams
  • A tertiary qualification in a related engineering discipline (desirable)

Space Domain - Team Leader

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising and provide technical advice to delivery teams
  • Planning and managing the development of the team’s software products
  • Supporting the bids and proposals process in the pursuit of business growth opportunities
  • Representing Saab Australia as a technical lead within the space industry and customer community

Skills/experience required include:

  • The full software engineering lifecycle
  • Large scale projects involving multi-disciplinary engineering teams
  • Coaching and mentoring across engineering team
  • Development of technical solutions and strategies to support the development of technical proposals
  • A tertiary qualification in software engineering, computer science or related technical discipline (desirable)

Space Domain - Software Engineers x 2:

Key responsibilities include:

  • Specifying, designing, developing, documenting, testing and maintaining Space related software components
  • Conducting ‘hands on’ activities in the execution of Space related projects or external technical activities
  • Representing Saab Australia as an engineer within the space industry and customer community

Skills/experience required include:

  • Broad experience in an area applicable to the Space domain
  • Software engineering lifecycle and common guiding standards
  • Writing requirements, designing, developing and testing software components within complex systems
  • Projects involving multi-disciplinary engineering teams
  • A tertiary qualification in software engineering, computer science or related technical discipline (desirable)

As part of the Chief Engineer Group’s Engineering team, the Space team members may also be asked to support broader business activities, including those outside of the Space domain, where capacity allows. However, delivery of Space related outcomes will be the primary focus of this team.

Applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain a NV1 defence clearance.
