The role

As part of our Land group, the Supply Chain Lead will play a key role in furthering the development of Saab’s ground based deployable health solutions.

The purpose of the Supply Chain Lead is to support the JP2060 Support Project in the Establishment and day to day running of the Supply Chain Services at the Deployable Health Capability Support Centre near Ipswich. This facility has been established to ensure that Defense Deployable Health Equipment is stored and maintained to ensure availability when the Defence Force needs it.

Further, the successful candidate will:

  • Establish and manage the Deployable Health Capability warehouse
  • Manage all stock and the flow of the warehouse, including labour and space/layout capacity requirements, ensuring operational and customer demand is satisfied 
  • Manage and motivate all warehouse staff (including Subcontractors)by providing directions on key tasks and assist with employment and training
  • Ensure that staff comply with health, safety and environmental guidelines and work safely to protect themselves and others identify and implement improvements to processes 
  • Liaising with key service providers – freight, packaging and waste  
  • Make sure all deliveries in and out of the business are carried out in a timely fashion  
  • Operate material handling equipment such as Forklift, Walkie-Stacker and pallet trolley
  • Undertake accurate equipment auditing as required for compliance with Commonwealth requirements
  • Maintain and update Saab’s ERP databases and documentation control pertaining to receipt, inspection and deliveries of equipment
  • Comply with legislation and Company policies, processes and instructions, including those relating to non-discrimination, safety and duty of care and the quality management system

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Computer proficiency in using ERP software and Microsoft Office
  • Understanding of quality control processes and Work Health Safety (WHS) practices
  • Demonstrated experience in Defence Logistics and demonstrated understanding of DEF-AUST 1000C requirements
  • Experience in Defence database utilisation such as MILIS or the new defence SAP replacement
  • Proven management skills with the ability to optimise team performance and development 
  • Microsoft Office skills – especially in Excel 
  • Capable of operating at a strategic, tactical and operational level 
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment and build strong working relationships, but also confident working independently
  • Ability to understand professional pressures and remain resilient under these circumstances by maintaining a calm and composed approach 
  • Forklift license


As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearance.
