We have a vacancy for an Engineer as the Technical Design Authority for our Missile Warning Systems.

Your role

  • Plan, Manage, Design, Execute and Support of Missile Warning System Development effort through the product’s life cycle against the higher level System Requirement Specification
  • Perform requirements definitions and allocations, functional analysis and system synthesis.  Derive lower level component (LRU/SRU) requirements – i.e. systems engineering on the subsystem level
  • Product baseline management, including obsolescence management and following engineering change process as required
  • Technical Team Leader
  • Assist in the planning and management of the technical development process and monitor technical performance
  • Be the technical interface to internal customers
  • Support the system engineer and program manager with technical interfacing to external customers for assigned projects
  • Coordinate and participate in system integration and test activities to achieve a system qualification
  • Create and maintain documentation for Design, Planning, Requirements, Specifications Tests and Results
  • Ensure that hardware, software, reports and other documentation are configured appropriately

Your profile

Required skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the systems engineering, software systems engineering and product development processes
  • Overall multi-disciplinary experience in the different engineering disciplines
  • Physics, including (but not limited to) optics and radiometry
  • Electronics – analogue, digital, electro-optics. Intermediate knowledge required; experts are available
  • Software skills (programming and data manipulation) e.g. C/C++, Matlab, Python and Excel
  • Good social skills that will foster good team work
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability so summarise and present information in a concise, but accurate way

Practical Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a multi-disciplinary engineering R&D and product development environment
  • Experience in the design of Electro-optic systems and/or lower level components will be an advantage


  • BEng (Electronics) or equivalent
  • Electronic Warfare Knowledge and Experience will be an advantage
  • Systems engineering qualification will be an advantage – even informal qualification
