Saab Australia to Host Trade Mission to Sweden
To enhance support to the Australian defence industry and, in particular, Australia’s small to medium enterprises (SMEs), Saab Australia is hosting a trade mission to Sweden in September.
The trade mission will include representatives from seven Australian companies and aims to educate delegates on Saab’s global capabilities, its projects and opportunities. The mission will brief Saab’s business units on the capabilities of the participating companies, and start the process of opening up the Saab global supply chain to Australian SMEs.
“Cablex, Codan, DEK Technologies, Marand, Milspec Manufacturing, Norseld, and Redarc are the selected companies who are either current or potential suppliers to Saab, and who we think may be able to provide products and services into our global supply chain,” says Matt Opie, Head of Industry Engagement for Saab Australia, who will host the trade mission.
Saab Australia is delivering and bidding for several large Australian defence projects such as SEA1654 Naval Supply Vessels, SEA5000 Future Frigates, SEA1180 Offshore Patrol Vessels and, as a subcontractor to BAE Systems, LAND400 Combat Reconnaissance Vehicles. Australian industry capability is a key component of all of these programmes and to build strong delivery teams, Saab Australia is strengthening the relationships with Australian SMEs.
“We see this trade mission as part of our strong ongoing commitment to the Australian defence industry and the nation’s SMEs,” says Dean Rosenfield Managing Director, Saab Australia.
The trade mission will visit Saab Business Units across Sweden in Järfälla, Linköping and Gothenburg, and will focus on some key product development areas which could be transferred to Australia if Saab secures work on emerging projects.
