The Zero Pressure podcast

A relaxed conversation with those on the cutting edge of science and technology - hosted by Britain's first astronaut Helen Sharman - Presented by Imperial College London and Saab.

The Zero Pressure podcast series is looking at how science and technology can positively contribute to solving complex, interrelated global challenges of today and tomorrow. This podcast series has a particular focus on security – looking at protection for individuals, nations and the whole Earth, from both cyber and physical threats. We look at pioneering technologies and speak with those on the thinking edge.

Helen Sharman CMG OBE, is the first British astronaut. Working as a chemist, in November 1989 Helen responded to a radio advertisement for astronauts and was selected from more than 13,000 applicants to be part of Project Juno, a commercial British- Soviet Union cosmonaut mission. She spent eight days orbiting the Earth, mostly living and working on the Space Station Mir in May 1991. Helen now works part-time at Imperial College, London and speaks around the world about her space experiences.
