Consortium Damen Saab Tamandaré receives great attention at RIDEX
The Consortium Damen Saab Tamandaré was present during the RIDEX, Rio International Defense Exhibition, introducing its local partners Consub and Akaer. The partnership is strongly focused in meeting the needs of the Brazilian Navy. Saab and Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding combined forces and experience to participate in the competition for the supply of the four corvettes of the Tamandaré Class.
Saab, a Swedish company with more than 80 years of experience in the Defence industry and Damen, Dutch company leader in shipbuilding with more than 6 thousand boats produced and more than 20 navies serviced around the world announced their partnership during the defence and security fair, RIDEX. In this occasion, were presented the consortium's Brazilian partners such as Consub, a technology solutions company specializing in the integration of marine systems, Wilson Sons Estaleiros, an integrated port and maritime logistics operator in the national market, and Akaer, a specialist in aerospace and defence market.
In the proposal, Saab will provide the Saab 9LV combat management system, known for its flexibility and easy integration of third-party modules as well as high performance mission equipment, used by navies from several countries. In this project, Consub must cooperate to ensure the integration of all mission equipment. While Akaer, will provide other combat systems.
Damen, will be responsible for supplying the ship Sigma 10514, proven platform that will be adapted to meet the demands of the Brazilian customer while Wilson Sons, will build the ship at its shipyard in Guarujá, São Paulo.
This project is proposing a large technology transfer programme, in addition to partnerships with local companies, benefiting the Brazilian Defence Industry.
During the event, the stand of the partnership received several important visitors such as the Minister of Defence, General Joaquim Silva e Luna, Minister of Public Security, Raul Jungmann and the Navy Commander, Eduardo Bacellar Leal Ferreira.
Presentation during RIDEX
- On Friday afternoon, Saab participated in the seminar "Strategic Scenario of the South Atlantic: challenges and implications of the naval forces and for the Brazilian Defense Industry", where it presented the Mine Counter Measure Vessels system approach solution to the Brazilian Navy.
