With a combination of indigenous content and transfer of technologies and capabilities, Saab’s approach will have a much higher impact on the long term technological and economic development of India than competitors.

Saab proposes to set up the Indian Aircraft Company (INAC), an advanced industrial body which will act as the hub for its full-blown industrial approach to the Gripen for India program. Saab’s proposal has a strong focus on indigenous content and technology for the development of skills and creation of skilled jobs.

“We plan to provide a much higher ratio of indigenous content and industrial benefits than any and all of our competitors through INAC, our international partners and the Indian supply chain. Think of INAC as the hub in an Indian supply chain ecosystem that consists of several small and medium enterprises, providing structural parts, structural assembly, as well as avionics hardware and software,” says Mats Palmberg who has led the Saab Gripen fighter campaign for India for the last few years.
