Indian NDC Delegation Visits Saab

A delegation from India’s prestigious National Defence College witnessed live firing of the Carl Gustaf at Karlskoga in Sweden recently during a tour of Saab’s facilities in Karlskoga, Sweden. The group comprising visiting officers from the Indian armed forces, paramilitary forces and civil services also tried their hands at the VSHORAD simulator, testing their skills in knocking out an “enemy helicopter”. The Indian team was impressed with Saab’s production facilities.

The NDC, India’s most prestigious defence institution, provides instruction to senior military and civil service officers in the wider aspects of higher direction and strategy of warfare. The team of future decision makers from India currently enrolled with NDC witnessed the deployment of the Carl Gustaf which has been in action with the Indian army for the past 30 years.

The Indian delegation from National Defence College had programmes planned with various government agencies and businesses associated with Swedish defence. Peter Viklund, from Saab’s Security and Defence Solutions made a presentation to the team on the Battelfield Management Systems (BMS) developed by Saab. Saab Dynamics, with its large product portfolio was the focus of the Indian delegation’s program in Karlskoga.

The Indian delegation was led by Air Marshal Pramod Kumar Roy and hosted in Sweden by Brigadier General Mats Engman. Ulf Rudebark, Saab's Market Area representative from India, accompanied the guests during their visit to Sweden. While the leader of the Indian delegation, Air Marshal Pramod Kumar Roy, commended the hosts for a “well organised and professionally conducted” tour, Bo Thörn, Head of FFV Ordnance, observed, “We consider this visit as very important for current and future relations with the Indian armed forces.”
