Saab Committed to Long Term Participation in Education Program
“The theme of Sweden India Nobel Memorial week is ‘Energy of Innovation: Co-creating the Future’ and I firmly believe that vocational training and skill development is a key part of the theme of innovation because knowledge, creativity and cooperation are key components of innovation and also, entrepreneurship. Innovation holds the key to a better and prosperous future”, said Annie Loof, Minister of Enterprise, Sweden at a seminar on India & Sweden: Collaboration on Skills Development at Federation house, New Delhi. The event is being organized as a part of the Sweden India Nobel Memorial Week 2012 being organized by the Swedish Trade Council and the Embassy of Sweden.
Ms. Loof added that she has met Mr. Anand Sharma, Union Minister for Commerce and Industry and they discussed on skill development in the context of how to ensure future competitiveness and for further improvement of trade relations between India and Sweden.
Other speakers at the seminar were His Excellency Harald Sandberg, the Ambassador of Sweden to India, Mr Ulf Rudebark, Vice President, Strategic Relations & Joint Ventures, Saab, Mr Sushil Ramola, CEO & MD, B-Able, Mr Sameer Khanna, Head HR, Ericsson India and Mr Sanjeev Duggal, CEO and Executive Director, Centum Learning and Co-Chair, FICCI SDF (FICCI Skill Development Forum). His Excellency Harald Sandberg, the Ambassador of Sweden to India said, “It is a fact in all countries that skill development is a crucial complement to the theoretical learning from school. If this equation is solved, it will benefit employers and employees alike. I am happy that India and Sweden are showing interest in vocational training.”
Ulf Rudebark, Vice President, Strategic Relations & Joint Ventures, Saab announced the initiation of the Diploma Employment Enhancement Program (DEEP) for College Engineers by Saab India in Andhra Pradesh. This programme will start in December 2012 in Gudivada and Kakinada in the Southern State of Andhra Pradesh. He gave a presentation that explained the Diploma Employment Enhancement Program (DEEP) and the objectives of investing in the program.
Sanjeev Duggal, CEO and Executive Director, Centum Learning and Co-Chair, FICCI SDF (FICCI Skill Development Forum) said, “Our vision is to complement Government of India’s ambition of training 500 million people by 2022 and we seek to achieve this vision by identifying and engaging right stakeholders to facilitate collaboration, creating knowledge repository of various initiatives which feeds into policy making and industry engagement, designing and delivering capacity building and training programs and by enabling international collaboration to position India s skills gateway of the world.”
