R6 NAV, Class-leading GNSS Performance

The R6 NAV series by Saab TransponderTech represents a new generation of GNSS receivers for robust and precise IMO-compliant navigation. The expanding R6 NAV family is now replacing previous R4 NAV and R5 NAV systems that together have been the top choice for professional mariners for over two decades.

Intuitive User Interface and Seamless Integration

The R6 CDU (Control and Display Unit) combines the high quality display with a user-friendly design to simplify operations with intuitive controls. Its 7-inch sunlight-readable touch display presents clear, precise data, and supports central dimming. It supports up to 4000 waypoints and 128 routes.

The built-in system web interface can be used for optional configuration and control.

Flexible system architecture

The modular system is flexible for upgrades and makes updates easy. The console installation protects the receiver from harsh maritime elements, enabling many years of hassle-free operations with a minimum of maintenance, if any.

The multi-function R6 CDU also supports a type-approved combined installation with R6 Supreme AIS and R6 NAV systems to reduce the number of displays on the bridge. 

R6 NAV system versions

R6 NAV GNSS/DGNSS 

High performing standard GNSS navigator, providing high reliability and Multi-GNSS performance. 800 channels, supports all satellite constellations and corrections via SBAS and IALA Beacon (DGNSS).

R6 NAV PRO RTK

High precision multi-frequency navigation combined with high resilience against jamming and spoofing. New multi-band Jamming Detection view across L1, L2 and L5, and able to maintain high accuracy even under interference. Severe jamming levels will trigger a BAM compliant alert. Supports additional corrections via Galileo HAS, Atlas H10 and local RTK service down to centimeter accuracy.

R6 NAV PRO Compass/Compass+

The new powerful dual-antenna DGNSS Compass. Multi-GNSS and Multi-Frequency providing the same high precision and resilience as R6 NAV PRO RTK, plus spoofing detection by monitoring the precise antenna baseline, where deviations will trigger a BAM compliant spoofing alert.

The R6 NAV PRO Compass+ version, adds IMU enhanced motion monitoring providing high accuracy position, speed, heading, course, rate of turn, roll, pitch and heave, and is type-approved as Transmitting Heading Device, THD.

R6 NAV NEO

Our Panama compliant DGNSS Compass. R6 NAV NEO is built on the R6 NAV PRO Compass+ for high precision and integrity protection in any waters.

It is also approved as Non-Portable Piloting Unit (NPPU) by the Panama Canal Authority (ACP), and includes the mandated Wi-Fi-connectivity to piloting tablets for real-time monitoring of position, heading, and vessel movements, and has a built-in AIS-receiver and UPS battery back-up.

Verified Jamming and Spoofing Protection

Maintaining a secure and accurate position is critical in GNSS-compromised environments. The R6 NAV PRO systems ensures continuous reliability through advanced digital signal filtering and suppression, verified by third-party testing for maximum resilience against interference.

Jamming detection

Real-time monitoring and logging of GNSS jamming levels across L1, L2, and L5 frequency bands. It analyses position deviations under interference conditions and triggers BAM-compliant alerts when severe jamming is detected. PRO versions.

Jamming resilience

Designed to maintain valid positioning even under jamming, the system can operate effectively when one or two frequencies (L1, L2, or L5) are interfered. L1-band jamming is most prevalent, leaving single-band GNSS receivers significantly more vulnerable while R6 NAV PRO ensures continued accuracy.

Spoofing detection

By monitoring the precise baseline of the dual antennas, spoofing attempts can be detected by deviations from the expected baseline and trigger a BAM-compliant alert. (Compass versions)

  • DGNSS stands for Differential Global Navigation Satellite Systems and is an enhancement to GNSS which provides improved location accuracy (down to a few centimeters)
  • Saab’s R6 NAV supports four independent GNSS constellations for improved resilience and flexibility: GPS, GLONASS, Beidou and GALILEO.
