Saab Business Area Naval is looking for an experienced leader to head the Chief Operating Office (COO), and play a key role in driving operational excellence and strategic execution across the business area. In this role, you will support the Business Area leadership in strengthening performance, coordination and delivery across a complex and growing organization.
Operating in a highly advanced industrial and defence environment, the role requires strong business acumen and industrial maturity, with the ability to balance long-term strategic priorities with operational realities. COO office contains the BA expert functions of Security, Performance Management, Quality, IT, Sustainability and Site management.
Your role
We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as COO. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and driving operational excellence initiatives together with your departments.
Main responsibilities in our growth journey are to support operations to be efficient, compliant with laws and regulations and co-ordinate staff expertise with business needs to enhance our competitive edge. You will and establish clear and effective structures for KPI follow-up and performance monitoring.
Your role acts across our organisation to ensure efficient and effective processes and procedures. You will work closely with the other senior leaders to shape the future direction of the organization and ensure that we deliver on our commitments every day.
Activities in your role will include:
- Developing and implementing strategies to improve operational performance and drive continuous improvement
- Continuously follow up and develop key performance indicators and metrics to drive effectiveness for the BA
- Collaborating with senior leadership to align operational excellence initiatives with overall business objectives
- Ability to lead complex specialist functions and senior leaders to be the best
Travelling is part of the job. You report to the Head of Business Area.
Your profile
Your background may vary, but you likely hold a relevant university degree and bring solid experience from one or more expert functions. Experience from operational roles is highly valued, as the role requires the ability to connect strategic direction with operational execution across the business area.
You bring a strong operational mindset and the ability to support the BA leadership in driving delivery, performance management and continuous improvement in both ways of working across the organization.
Experience in process improvement methodologies is desirable. Previous experience from the defence industry, along with a solid understanding of defence-related regulations and frameworks, would be considered a strong advantage.
To be successful in this role, we expect you to demonstrate strong drive, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross functional teams.

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.
