Job Description:
Saab is seeking a Development Program Manager (PM) to be responsible for the profitable execution of development programs within the Surveillance division. This position will work onsite from our East Syracuse, NY office.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in the strategic planning, oversight, and execution of large, complex radar systems in surface, maritime or air domains, and an in-depth knowledge of military or commercial radar systems, markets, and technologies.
The Development Program Manager will develop and implement a successful product roadmap for their program, including the recommendation and execution of IRAD plans to support long-term business objectives. A significant aspect of this role will be to bridge the gap between engineering, supply chain, and program management, ensuring smooth integration and collaboration across these critical functions throughout the program lifecycle.
Additionally, the Development PM will play a key role in the transfer of technology, managing the successful handoff of technologies from development to production. This includes overseeing the transition of prototypes and developmental systems into scalable, manufacturable, and supportable products.
Additional responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Coordinate with the customer across supply chain, production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure program milestones are met, including risk management and issue resolution.
Establish and control program budgets that are aligned with program needs.
Ensure all projects within the assigned program are managed and executed within approved program management processes.
Drive Earned Value Management principles and initiatives within the business and use EVMS to report program status internally and externally.
Work closely with Sales and Product Management personnel to maintain institutional knowledge of the competitive landscape in the assigned market segment.
Develop high-quality competitive proposals that facilitate achievement of business segment objectives.
Grow relationships in the customer community and with large industry primes to service existing programs and find new and unique ways to deploy our technology to meet customer needs.
Monitor and guide junior PMs to achieve delivery of distinctively high-quality products and services; to include performance, reliability, cost, and on-time delivery.
Compensation Range: $161,700-$218,300
The compensation range provided is a general guideline. Skills and Experience:
Basic Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or related discipline is required
10+ years of Defense/Aerospace Industry Program Management experience
Extensive experience successfully negotiating multimillion-dollar agreements with large Aerospace and Defense customers.
Understanding of DoD or FAA acquisition process.
Experience running development programs.
Demonstrated track record leading large scale aerospace and defense business capture efforts.
Must possess advanced knowledge of program management standards and best practices (scheduling, cost accounting, EVMS, Risk/Opportunity management).
Ability to contribute to the development strategy and lead strategic initiatives in support of functional and business objectives.
Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
Willingness to travel up to 25% in support of program and business.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Master’s Degree in Business Administration
5+ years of People Management experience, directly or indirectly leading organizations of 10 or more individuals.
Experience in Engineering, Operations Engineering, or related technical discipline
Strong experience in Earned Value or metrics-based program management.
Risk Management experience.
Experience with development to production transitions.
Experience with change and scope management.
