Job Description:

Saab is seeking a dynamic, results-oriented individual to fill the Quality Director position. At Saab, the Quality Director will support the strategic vison and goals of Quality team for the Surveillance Business, reporting directly to the Senior Director of Quality for Saab, Inc.

Your job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Building a highly capable and productive team in areas such as Quality Engineering, Inspection, Compliance and Audit.

  • Providing strategic leadership in a cross-functional team, driving accountability for quality in partnership with diverse program teams.

  • Exhibiting strong background in reviewing contract requirements and ensuring compliance.

  • Reviewing requests for proposal (RFPs) and providing accurate and substantiated costing.

  • Managing the department budget for both labor and materials.

  • Delivering the strategic vision of the department.

  • Effectively transforming quality policy into practice and continual process improvement.

  • Using expert knowledge to drive maturity and capability, while ensuring compliance for our customers. 

  • Managing and continuously improving non-conformances and high-risk areas throughout the operation.

  • Fostering and improving supplier quality in collaboration with other operations and supply chain functions.

  • Leading continuous improvement initiatives that support a zero-defect culture.

  • Delivering a people first culture in alignment to Saab leadership vision.

  • Ensuring audit and compliance with internal customer, external customer, government and industry certifications and requirements.

  • Providing training materials to educate and advance the development of an hourly and salaried workforce.

Compensation Range: $161,700 - $218,300

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or similar field required; MBA, M.Sc. or an equivalent documented education a plus.

  • 10+ years of experience required.

  • 5+ years of managing direct or indirect reports and large-scale operations preferred.

  • Expertise with the quality requirements of the aerospace and defense industry including ISO9001, AS9100, and CMMI.

  • Experience working with U.S. government contracts, including FAR/DFAR regulations.

  • Excellent communication and team building experience working in an international environment.

  • High level of business acumen and overall ability to plan on strategic and tactical level.

  • Strong and effective leadership skills of hourly and salaried workforce. Ability to drive and lead change.

  • Knowledge of Oracle, IFS, or other ERP system to increase operational effectiveness within the Quality function.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Citizenship Requirements:

Must be a U.S. citizen. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
