Naval Combat Systems is a business unit within Business Area Naval as of April 1st and consists of approximately 2,000 employees globally, across Sweden, Australia, Denmark, Finland, Germany, and Poland.

Naval Combat Systems provides customers with world-class situational awareness, decision support, force coordination, communication solutions, and precision engagement. Together, these deliver a winning solution for mission control.

The business unit has a strong presence in the global defence and security markets, close customer relationships, and rewarding international collaborations.

As Head of Naval Combat Systems, you will be responsible for a growing national and global business unit. You will also be responsible for the strategic development of “Command and Control,” one of Saab’s core areas.

Your role

As Head of Naval Combat Systems, you demonstrate a high level of business acumen and accountability in delivering on your commitments. The position is based in Stockholm, Sweden, and requires both national and international travel.

Your strong international leadership and general management skills will be crucial in continuing to develop our culture of trust, performance, accountability, transparency, innovation, teamwork, and continuous learning.

Furthermore, we are looking for a leader who provides strong guidance in a growing organization undergoing a transformation journey, effectively navigating complexity while driving strategic and operational change.

More specifically, the role includes:

  • Profitability, growth, and sustainability of the global Naval Combat Systems business
  • Full P&L responsibility, including order intake, for the global business
  • Responsibility for business execution and product lifecycle management
  • Strategic and financial business planning, as well as budgeting and forecasting
  • Customer relations in close collaboration with Saab Operational Countries (Australia, Germany, the UK, and the US), other Country Units, and other Business Units within Saab

You will report to the Head of Business Area Naval and be part of the BA Naval Management Team.

  • Proven ability to create and implement strategies that secure both growth and EBIT, with the ambition to exceed business plan targets
  • Experience in complex international business and system-of-systems development
  • As this is a software-intensive business, a solid understanding of software development, information security, cloud technologies, and related areas is required
  • Strong people leadership: challenges employees to excel, embraces ambiguity and complexity, and uses coaching to develop capabilities
  • Ability and passion to lead an international, complex, high-tech organization
  • Ability to effectively communicate expectations and vision in a way that motivates and drives high performance and growth
  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, control, and capital allocation
  • Ability to establish and maintain a strong network of customers, local industrial partners, and other relevant stakeholders
