Job Description:

Saab in East Syracuse, NY is seeking a dynamic, results-oriented Senior Contracts Administrator to report directly to the Manager, Contracts for the Surveillance U.S. division. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of industry practices, experience working with U.S. Government Federal Acquisition Regulations contracts, and preferably have experience with commercial and foreign customers.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Day-to-day activities will include proposal preparation, pre‐contract risk analysis, negotiation, troubleshooting and resolving contractual issues, and administration of U.S. government contracts.

  • Practice proactive contracts management, respond to inquiries regarding contract obligations/revisions, and initiate the documentation to authorize work according to contractual specifications.

  • Review complex domestic proposals for compliance with requirements of Request for Proposal, with particular focus on identification and mitigation/elimination of “proposal risk” and “execution risk”.

  • Draft modified/ revised language for terms and conditions in response to an RFP.  

  • Collaborate with and influence other business areas without direct authority.

  • Apply knowledge of corporate policies and procedures, and identify required improvement to established policies. 

  • Coordinate and manage the contracts volume as part of a major or complex proposal.

  • Determine appropriate flow down provisions for subcontracts and material procurement.

  • Mentor less experienced Contract professionals.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree degree in Business or related discipline is required. MBA or JD is a plus.

  • 8+ years of experience directly working in a Contracts role or related field.

  • 6+ years of experience with government regulations (i.e., FAR/DFARS, ITAR/EAR, TINA, etc.)

  • Must be able to travel up to 25% in support of program and business development efforts.

  • Must be capable of obtaining a Secret level security clearance.

  • Ability to draft modified/ revised language for terms and conditions in response to an RFP.  

  • Working to expert knowledge of contracting concepts Federal Acquisition Regulations/ Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/ DFAR) Supplement.

  • Demonstrated proactive contracts management experience.

  • Excellent internal and external negotiation skills.  

  • Strong presentation, leadership and team‐building skills. 

  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite.

Desired:

  • Professional certification preferred (CCCM, CFCM, CPCM).

  • Experience working with U.S. Government and foreign customers.

  • Experience working in Oracle, SharePoint, and JIRA.

  • Experience training less experienced Contracts professionals is a plus.

Citizenship Requirements:

Must be a U.S. citizen. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
