Senior IT Support Professional
Saab, Inc.'s Business Support team is looking for an experienced Senior IT professional with a strong understanding of software updates and patch management for end-user systems and servers, with a strong customer service background to fill an open position at our national headquarters in Syracuse, NY.
Delivering a customer service-oriented approach in support of the organizations' patch management requirements.
Provides ongoing software deployment and patch management using various tools including but not limited to VMware Workspace One (UEM), Tanium, SCCM, Orchestrator, Intune, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit, Windows Deployment Server, Nessus and Cloudpaging.
Assess software updates and patches and create recommended patch list with logical explanation in terms of compliance.
Develop and optimize pre- and post- update process to ensure proper implementation without any outages, including vendor engagement.
Coordinate and communicate patch schedule with the Business and other teams such as Workplace, Infrastructure, Security. Communicate project and operational metrics.
Manage communications intended to improve an enterprise patch management program.
Thorough testing of updates in a non-Production environment. Must be able to avoid service outages based on the lab results.
Effectively using problem solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues, as well as provide input to process improvement efforts.
Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in an information technology , computer science, or related discipline is required.
6+ years of relevant IT experience.
Understanding of processes and procedures with capability to suggest improvements
Solid organizational, documentation, verbal and writing communication skills.
Ability and willingness to handle off-hours support, including on-call.
Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team.
